This basic tutorial covers a basic update of Cpanel for an up to date install of the Agora Shopping Cart. Below you will find links to the two files needed for this update. They will allow you to update the html pages used in a few themes in Cpanel as well as the main AgoraCart installer file. It will act a little differently, but only on one instance, since we were not able to collaborate with the folks at Cpanel, but it does the job. This is to install a new store from the customer's control panel on your server. Currently Cpanel does not provide a way to integrate a store updater for your customers.
Files Required:
Below are the files required to perform the update. You will need to uncompress the .zip file for the theme pages prior to uploading to your server. To perform this update, you must have root access to your server and shell access (telnet, SSH, etc)., and your accounts must not allow cgi scripts to run as "nobody" as the wrappers are not included with this installer. The files are:
Cpanel themes These are the themes affected: BlueLagoon, iconic, Monsoon, Vertex, X, and X2
Cpanel Agora Cart Installer Version 4.0K-4b (Cpanel has 4.0 by default) This is the main file used to install the cart on the server for each client. It is in a .tar.gz format
Install Theme Pages:
1. Next you will need to FTP the theme pages into your server. (Note: We use the FTP method here as the long way for purposes of explaining the process in the lowest common denominator.). Place the eight files just above the public_html folder in some account that you have access to via FTP.
2. Next log into your server with a shell client (SSH, Telnet, etc).
3. Make sure you are at the top of the directory structure. You can do this by typing in:
cd /
4. and then press enter.
5. From there, we need to go to 6 separate themes and update the index.html page in each theme under the "acart" sub directory. We will us the X2 theme as an example, but the same process can be duplicated for all six themes. To get to the "acart" directory of the X2 theme, type in:
cd /usr/local/cpanel/base/frontend/x2/acart
6. and press enter. Then, to update the installed cart page, type:
(Note:if a killcart.html page already exists for the theme, you can skip steps 6 & 7)
cp /home/account-name-here/installacart.html installacart.html
7. and press enter. Then, to add a killed cart results page, type:
cp /home/account-name-here/killcart.html killcart.html
8. and press enter. Then type:
cp /home/account-name-here/indexX2.html index.html
9. and press enter. It will ask you if you wish to overwrite index.html, type in a "y" for yes and press enter. This will copy the file you uploaded earlier for the X2 thime over to the theme area for agora. This is the page the client sees when deciding where to install Agora and waht username/password they with to use for the .htaccess protection surroundinghte store manager areas. Now your X2 Theme is updated with the correct info for AgoraCart. You will not have to update this page again!
10. Repeat steps 3 thru 9 for each theme that you use (replacing the theme name in the server path of course). Make sure to erase the files you uploaded via FTP after you are finished with the updates.
Xcontroller was not updated due to the information needed was not readily available. We will be asking the creator of the Xcontroller theme to update their Agora Cart pages for future versions.
Update Installer:
1. Next you will need to FTP the agora.tar.gz file to your server. For simplicity, we will assume the same location as where the theme pages were uploaded to previously.
2. in your shell access, navigate to the directory where the agora.tar.gz needs to be placed by typing:
cd /usr/local/cpanel/3rdparty
3. and press enter. then type in:
mv /home/account-name-here/agora.tar.gz agora.tar.gz
4. and press enter. this will move the installer to the needed directory. It should ask you if you wish to overwrite the older version of the file. type y for yes. And you are done with the upgrade :)
